Once Saved Always Saved?

People have asked me on multiple occasions that if a person is saved are they always saved? I see people often don’t even understand what belief and confession actually mean, but yet they seem to be experts on whether a person is saved or not. Or if a person was once saved can He be saved again. So to clear up  the question, let’s first put away people’s opinions on the matter.

The Word of God is our only guide and manual to such things.

Hebrews 6:4 

4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,⁵ And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,⁶ If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Matthew 12:45
Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they go in and dwell there; and the final plight of that man is worse than the first. So will it be with this wicked generation.”

2 Peter 2:20-22

 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

Once saved doesn’t mean always saved. If you are truly saved there is no need to return to what you left, because God is able to keep you from falling. Rather only the unsaved then can return to their old life. Why? Because since they were never truly saved, they have never truly left. Half of them was in God and the other half was out of God’s Will.  They are what we call ‘lukewarm’ for they are neither hot nor cold. The question of if once saved always saved is redundant. The bible clearly states that once you are saved you are not always saved. That is because you still have a choice to go back thus denying Christ’s forgiveness while embracing eternal death.
